SPLINTING

Hand and Upper Limb Splinting

We offer bespoke thermoplastic or ready-made splinting. This type of splinting is usually provided to those who need to prevent contracture or to support and assist with specific movements carried out by the hand or upper limb.

 

 

Kinesiology Taping 

 

Kinesiology taping is a rehabilitative taping technique which aims to support and improve stability to muscles and joints without restricting the movement.

 

We offer this splinting option as an adjunct to support therapy, such as during an intense block of CIMT or bimanual therapy.

A splinting package may consist of the following:

​

  • Assessment in clinic to determine most appropriate method of splinting 

  • Fitting of splint/Kinesiology Tape and practicing of strengthening exercises/activities

  • Liaison with school/education setting

  • Goal setting and implementation of a therapy programme

  • 2 x Reviews – at 2 weeks and 3 months
